Doncaster Book Award Launch 2010
Friday 8 th October marked the launch of the seventh Doncaster Book Award at The Civic Theatre, Waterdale.
Armthorpe School and our feeder Primaries were joined by over 300 other students from schools all over Doncaster to celebrate the event.
We started proceedings with a book workout lead by Armthorpe pupils to the Black Eyed Peas song “I Gotta Feeling”, only the lyrics had been changed to “Gotta Keep Reading”! This truly raised the roof and warmed things up, the whole theatre audience joined in with the routine, including Doncaster Rovers staff and the Civic Mayor!
Then we were entertained by Blue Peter Award winning author, Ali Sparkes, she made us all laugh with a reading from her book, Dark Summer, which also happens to be on this year’s long list.
The award runs from now until the end of March, loads of exciting events are planned including drama workshops, author visits and extra curricular trips.
