The Specialist School for The Arts and Sport and our identified subject areas of specialism are Drama, English and Sport.
Our main aims for the specialism are:
- To support the raising of attainment in all subjects through the work of Arts and Sport subjects
- To support our pupils in their independent learning in all subjects through our work in The Arts and Sport
- To support the development of existing and new opportunities in our partner schools and our wider community through a flourishing programme of Arts and Sports Activities.
We are proud to be only the 3rd school in Yorkshire and the North East with this particular combined specialism and particularly proud to have our work recognised through sponsorship from EMI Music Sound Foundation.
As a result of our successful bid we are able to enhance some of the facilities available at the school, not only for our pupils but also for our partner schools and the community. We have started work on refurbishing South Hall to provide a performance venue with state of the art technology for projection, lighting and sound. The comfort of the audience has not been forgotten as retractable, tiered seating will also be installed. This venue will be used for assemblies and lectures, productions and concerts and will be available for the use of community groups when the work is complete.
We are also developing a rehearsal space which will also be used for dance and aerobics, a recording studio for music and the spoken word and a state of the art cardio workout gym. Please click on the links for further information about the various facets of our specialist provision. |
